Approximately 30 percent of Americans with disabilities deal with inadequate transportation, compared to only 10 percent of those without disabilities. Access to transportation is vital to independence, and employment. NOD is working to help people with disabilities increase their transportation options.

ABLEDATA is a federally funded project that provides information on assistive technology and rehabilitation equipment. ABLEDATA transportation resources include product database listings for transit vehicles and facilities, vehicle accessories, and vehicles accessible to people with disabilities.

Project ACTION
Easter Seals Project ACTION (Accessible Community Transportation in Our Nation) works with transit, disability, and consumer organizations and federal agencies to improve transit accessibility. The site includes a database of accessible transit services throughout the United States.

The US Department of Transportation offers a toll-free hotline to assist air travelers with disabilities. Air travelers who experience disability-related air travel service problems may call the hotline at 1-800-778-4838 (voice) or 1-800-455-9880 (TTY) for assistance.
