NOD Invites Dialog at New Jersey Bridges to Business Forum

New Brunswick, NJ, June 7, 2011 — On June 7, 2011, NOD’s Bridges to Business program hosted a convening of representatives from universities, major employers, service providers, and government agencies to discuss collaboration opportunities to increase the employment of people with disabilities in New Jersey.

Highlights of this Bridges to Business Forum included an introduction by NOD Director Bonnie St. John (pictured above), President of Courageous Spirit, Inc.; an employer speech from Lowe’s Distribution Center management in Pittston, PA; and employer and service provider presentations with Q&A. The forum served to share the success of NOD’s Bridges to Business initiative in other states as a means of improving employment opportunities for people with disabilities, as well as to candidly discuss the roadblocks to implementing such initiatives from the business, service provider, university, and government standpoints.
