			<p><strong>Washington DC, September 28, 2011</strong> &mdash; NOD  hosted a convening of 30 senior members of the military, public  agencies, service providers, and employers Wednesday to discuss the  career supports that work most effectively to assist veterans with  severe disabilities in obtaining employment.  This is a growing  population, with over 110,000 veterans in this category since 2001.  The convening included a presentation by NOD, as well as a discussion of ways in which agencies can work both individually and together to provide the necessary supports.</p>

      <title>NOD Return to Careers Study Sheds Light on Wounded Veterans’ Work Preferences</title>

			<p><strong>August 1, 2011 New York, NY</strong> &mdash; Early findings from NOD&rsquo;s <a href="http://nod.org/what_we_do/research/return_to_careers/">Return to Careers</a> research project, sponsored by the Institute for Economic Empowerment  (IEE), reveal the unique circumstances and preferences of today&rsquo;s  wounded veterans, when it comes to pursuing civilian employment &ndash; and  the role that employers can play in supporting their return to careers.  In NOD&rsquo;s research, many veterans expressed&nbsp;interest in work relating to  their military experience; work that allows them to continue to serve  the public (e.g., healthcare, social services); and jobs offering  flexible hours and/or location, including entrepreneurship. NOD is  applying these findings in its services to veterans through the <a href="http://nod.org/what_we_do/innovation_pilot_projects/wounded_warrior_careers_demonstration/">Wounded Warrior Careers</a> project.</p>
